Endorsements from across the political spectrum continue to pour in for Hannah-Beth Jackson in her campaign for the State Senate (District 19). With the announcement of Supervisor Linda Parks’ endorsement, Hannah-Beth Jackson has now been endorsed by four of the five Ventura County Supervisors. Supervisor Linda Parks was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. Parks previously served as Mayor of the City of Thousand Oaks and was a member of the City Council for six years and a Planning Commissioner for four years. Parks was a leader in the SOAR Campaign and the Campaign to Save Ahmanson Ranch.
Parks joins Ventura County Supervisors Bennett, Long and Flynn who endorsed Hannah-Beth Jackson when she first announced her candidacy for the State Senate last year. Supervisor Parks is also one of the prominent Republicans who have endorsed Hannah-Beth Jackson. Parks will be active in the Moderate Republicans for Jackson group, which is communicating with Republicans in the 19th Senate District urging them to vote for Hannah-Beth Jackson.
“I have worked with Hannah-Beth Jackson for many years, and there is no question that she is the best choice to represent Ventura County in this Senate District. Hannah-Beth was a leader in the fight to save Ahmanson Ranch and a strong supporter of the SOAR initiative. Hannah-Beth is leading the fight against toxic pollution at the Rocketdyne facility. We can count on Hannah-Beth Jackson to fight for the interests of the people of Ventura County,” explained Supervisor Linda Parks.
“Often times at the local government level, we need to work with the State Legislature to solve problems for the benefit of the County of Ventura. As an Assemblymember, Hannah-Beth Jackson was a responsive, effective representative for Ventura County. She was outstanding to work with,” commented Supervisor Steve Bennett.
Hannah-Beth Jackson worked to pass the Ventura County SOAR Initiative, which protects open space and farmland in addition to establishing urban boundary limits around Ventura County cities. As a State Assemblymember, Hannah-Beth also worked with local elected officials and community members to raise awareness about Washington Mutual Bank’s plans for massive development at Ahmanson Ranch. By bringing public pressure to bear, Ahmanson Ranch was preserved. Jackson also authored legislation to help get perchlorate (a toxic chemical) out of our local drinking water.
Former Assemblymember Hannah-Beth Jackson, the Democratic nominee for State Senate, represented Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties in the State Legislature from 1999-2004. For a complete list of endorsements, please see Jackson’s website: www.jackson4senate.com
